Kylie Hits South America

Posted by in Chile, South America

Towards the end of my time in Australia, I decided that I would go back to the original plan and spend my final two months of travel in South America. I flew from Adelaide to Sydney to Santiago, and travelled back in time by 13.5 hours! The flight was amazingly good, and I had two seats to myself. This resulted in me sleeping through the maltesers, the ice cream and the cheese and biscuits, to my utter disappointment!

Graham had already been in Chile, working on a farm, for a month by this point. He came up to join me in Santiago. We couch surfed with a great American called Eric. Eric has lived in Santiago for a few years and owns a bespoke, handmade shoe company.

We spent three days in Santiago, climbing San Cristobel and visiting local markets. I also slept quite a bit and tried to get used to the time difference!

Eric took us to his Swiss friends chocolate cafe which was AMAZING!

On the final night Simon, our friend from Cambridge, arrived to join us for the next few weeks of travel. We last saw him in Thailand several months ago and we were all excited to explore a new continent together. After a few pisco sours and lots of very tasty sandwiches (apparently a common Chilean dinner) we had made a plan to travel north to Valparaiso the next day.
