A Tropical Christmas

Every year, houses all over Brisbane compete to put on the best Christmas lights display. A few days before Christmas, Jimmy and I decided to check out some of the winners. This competition is taken pretty seriously, and there are even guided tours to take you to the best spots. The houses we saw were very….festive…. and quite interesting! I will let you judge for yourself from the photos below! Some people had gone all out, and were projecting films on the outside of their house. Some were playing music and the lights flashed in time to the beat. One house had a snow machine.

On the big day itself, Laura, Carl and I tried to recreate a typical British Christmas. We put the air conditioning on high, watched Christmas films, cooked a roast dinner, went for a walk, ate far too much chocolate and played some games.

On boxing day we had an Australian Christmas and Carl got to play with his new toy.

Christmas in the heat is certainly different but it was a perfect day spent with family.
